MURASAME Katana Sword for Handmade T10 Steel Blade

This katana is a high-quality sword that emphasizes practicality and craftsmanship, adhering to traditional standard katana specifications and techniques. All its components can be disassembled and reassembled like an authentic samurai sword.

The blade is forged from T10 steel, which provides a strong foundation for hardness. The steel is then clay-tempered and heat-treated, further enhancing the blade's hardness to near the optimal level. Instead of expensive mirror polishing, the blade undergoes a more practical standard polishing process, yet it still maintains excellent sharpness and cutting ability, offering outstanding value.

Complementing the blade, the fittings feature a wave-themed full-brass construction, carefully assembled to elevate the overall quality of the katana. The tsuka (handle) is made of hardwood, covered in genuine ray skin and tightly wrapped with high-quality silk ito. The tsuba (guard) is a beautiful and durable brass piece, carved with the wave motif that is the national flower of Japan, holding great symbolic significance.

The saya (scabbard) is crafted from hardwood and hand-wrapped in natural rattan, providing a secure and slip-resistant feel. The speckled textured paint finish ensures durability and a fingerprint-free appearance.

In terms of specifications, the katana boasts an overall length of 40.5 inches/103 cm, with a blade length of 28 inches/71 cm and a handle length of 10.2 inches/26 cm. The blade width near the habaki (collar) is 1.26 inches/3.2 cm, narrowing to 0.91 inches/2.3 cm near the kissaki (tip).

This katana is a true battle-ready sword. The full-tang T10 steel blade undergoes an ancient clay-tempering process, resulting in a real hamon (temper line) and exceptional hardness of 58-60 HRC. The multi-process grinding ensures a razor-sharp edge, suitable for real cutting training and exercises like tameshigiri (cutting of medium/soft targets).

The package includes the sword and a silk sword bag. However, the wooden stand shown in the images is not included. To maintain the sword's condition, it is important to store it in a non-humid environment and apply a coat of engine oil to the blade when not in use.
